In 1944, the world community established the UN International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal. Recognizing the critical role that legal education would play in facilitating the integration of legal standards globally, in 1951, McGill University opened its Institute of Air and Space Law to provide graduate legal education. Today it offers three academic programs: teh Doctor of Law (D.C.L), the Master of Laws (LL.M.), and the Graduate Certificate in Air and Space Law.
