John Romane started his aviation career in 1991 when he enrolled at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He then began in Airframe Overhaul with Field Aviation located at Calgary International Airport, YYC, working as an apprentice in structures and maintenance. Romane then joined the business and private aviation sector with SunWest Aviation, also based out of YYC, and finished off his AME-M and AME-S Licences working small piston and turbine powered aircraft.
Romane then transitioned over to the large category aircraft with WestJet in 2000 where he has worked in Line Maintenance and Technical Training. He led various WestJet teams in Technical Training (WJ ATO), Reliability, Maintenance Programs, Aircraft Configurations and Acquisitions, Engineering, Maintenance Control, and Line Maintenance. Romane was heavily involved with on boarding WestJet’s first three Boeing 787 Dreamliners before moving into his current position of leading Line Maintenance.
